How big are the bins?
Broome Green Bins are nominally 360l in size. If you have one of the oversized glass and plastic recycling bins from the Shire, then it’s the same size as that. They are easy to place waste into but narrow enough to fit through single gates and take the bin to the rubbish.
How many bins do I need?
How long is a piece of string? It will depend upon how much vegetation you have, the type of vegetation, how much rain we get (or reticulation you use) and which plan you select. If you are accustomed to a wool sack service every 4 weeks, two Broome Green Bins is likely to be the right number. If you have a 1 or 2 bed unit, or a house with a newly established garden without much vegetation, then one Broome Green Bin could be enough. We can always fine-tune the plan or number to suit your needs.
What can I put in the Broome Green Bin?
Green garden refuse please. Specifically:
- Leaves
- Fronds
- Clippings
- Plants
- Grass cuttings
- Hedge and bush trimmings
- Small branches
PLEASE, NO:
- Bags, plastics or general rubbish
- Rubble, concrete, soil, stones or steel
- Wood off cuts or pieces
- FOOD SCRAPS
- DOG POO or KITTY LITTER
If you wouldn’t put your hands in it, it probably doesn’t belong in the bin (Bougainvillea’s excepted of course).
What happens if I put something inappropriate in the bin?
The first time we’ll leave you a note and remind you what can go in the bins. If it happens regularly, we’ll discuss with you how we can remedy the situation. We won’t charge penalties, we may however withdraw the availability of our service.
How much can I put in the bin?
The bin lid should be able to close.
Do you collect the bins from my property?
Yes. The collection day will be provided to you on a calendar and we’ll send you a reminder. The bins do not have to be placed on the footpath (unlike the shire bins). We’ll come and collect it from your property.
What payments do you accept?
We currently take cash and can receive EFT payments to our bank account (a free transaction for both of us).
Can we combine plans?
Yes. You may have a bin on a Regular Plan and a second bin on a Casual Plan. We’ll work out a combination price upon request.
Can I change my plan or the number of bins?
Yes.We will calculate the used credit and the new service charge and make the adjustment. You can add or reduce bins.
Can I cancel my service?
Yes. We’ll make the final collection and calculate any unused credit, making the refund upon collection of an undamaged bin. The same applies if you leave town or vacate a rental and no longer require the service at the next location.
I’m moving house, what happens?
You tell us when you want the collection from the new address and we’ll turn up and empty the bin. We might call you to ask where on the new property you will store the bin(s).
Why are your plans prepaid?
The prepayment provides minimum administration tasks for you and us. It also acts as a security deposit against the bins which are provided by us and kept at your property. It’s a condition of our service that the bins will be returned to us in an undamaged state.
I forgot to make my bin(s) accessible. What can we do?
We’ll try and contact you if we can’t access the bin(s) on the day of collection. If we can collect on our next collection day we will try and arrange that with you. If we have to make a special trip there may be a charge.
Why do you need my email and mobile phone number?
We’ll send you a reminder of imminent bin collection to avoid failed pick ups.
I’m changing green waste service providers. How will the old and new service timing work out?
If you let us know, we’ll drop off the bin(s) before your old service stops. You can start filling the bin after the old service collection has finished. We won’t charge you for the first pick up as it’s only a part of the billing cycle. This gives you a continuous service without double charges
Can you issue a GST invoice?
Yes. We can issue a GST invoice for your business or rental purposes.
